PYREXIA...

This is truly one of those effects that you would love to tip at the end just to show the spectator how cool the method is.....but don't!

EFFECT: 

The performer displays six business-sized cards. Each has a different arcane symbol printed on its face. The back of each card is unmarked and is a nice blue color. The cards are placed face up on the table in a haphazard fashion so that all of the symbols can be seen.  While the performer is legitimately turned away the spectator is invited to pick up whichever symbol they feel most closely represents their personality.

             They are instructed to hold onto the card and to stare into the symbol, to project their aura into it,  thinking silently of a few reasons that this symbol matches their personality. The spectator is the told to place that symbol, face up, on top of any other symbol and to then place all of the other symbols face up on top of those and to square up the packet. They are then instructed to cut the packet to loose the card....the performer never peeks during any of this... 

             The performer turns around and starts to detail aspects of the spectator's personality even before picking up the cards. The card faces are then show singly to the spectator as they concentrate on their symbol. Of course, the performer is able to correctly discern their freely thought-of symbol and reveals it in his most charming manner, all the while detailing how this symbol does fit the spectator's personality.

While the six symbols shown are mentalism staples and lend themselves perfectly to cold reading, it is what the cards are made of that makes them even more special. The complete routine described above is fully detailed....humble cold reading suggestions included...and much more...

NO sleights, switches, stooges, counting, stacks or ANY of the usual methods used for accomplishing a mentalism effect. The cards are shown at the beginning and end of the routine to be unmarked, the mentalist can really turn away during the selection and mixing process. This is new stuff here and it is truly rare to be able to say that in the business of promoting new magic and mentalism.
